**Help us meet the $60,000 goal. **
This is a pilot program to expand educational opportunities beyond the 6th grade in rural Honduras.
We have identified a site which is strategically located that can serve 14 surrounding communities within a 2 ½ mile walking distance. This school will include a classroom for each grade, a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics) lab along with flush toilets and storage facilities. The curriculum will include the typical language arts, math, social studies, and science but it is proposed that the school will also include bi-lingual education. In addition, SCW has been developing (in Spanish) a social entrepreneurship curriculum where students will learn to develop programs and businesses to positively impact their communities.
The cost to build this school will be approximately $200,000. The proposed funding breakdown is as follows: $60,000 from USA donors, $40,000 from Honduran donors, and $100,000 from the local government and volunteer community labor. The Honduras Ministry of Education had agreed to staff the school.
